Today is 8/2/23 and it's National Coloring Book Day! When’s the last time you’ve colored anything?? Does anyone use art as part of their therapy?
Until I have an official sponsor, looks like I'm the sponsor!
It’s live!
Find Your Supervisor is finally live! Just click HERE, or the photo above and it will take you right to the site. If you are an LPC Supervisor in Texas (sorry, starting in Texas only and will look at options for other states down the road), or a potential Supervisee looking for a Supervisor, this is the place for you! It's a directory for LPC Supervisors to market their services by listing their information so that potential Supervisees can connect with them and hopefully find a perfect match! If you have any questions, click REPLY to this email and I can answer any questions you have. Thanks again for allowing me this personal promotion! 🙏

And now some interesting articles:
Ever used a genogram with clients? This article provides a very thorough lesson in completing one. She even used Ross Geller (from the Friends tv show) as an example.
I really like this article. Even if you don’t subscribe to a Narrative Therapy orientation, this is an excellent read. Provides a lot of good ideas for exercises to complete with clients, or have them complete as homework.
Which one are you? After reading this article, you may have a very different perspective.
New Software I Found Interesting
Ever heard of Mentaya? It’s a software you can utilize to streamline the out-of-network billing process for your clients. Here are some of the reasons I find this to be helpful:
It’s FREE for the mental health professional to use! There is a paid option, but you don’t have to use it.
It helps build/maintain a cash pay caseload. You can avoid dealing with insurance companies by having your client use Mentaya to bill the insurance for reimbursement.
They claim they can help clients get up to 80% of their payment back from the insurance company. This is great for retaining clients if they don’t have to spend as much money to continue attending sessions.
It seems super easy for both the mental health professional and the client to use.
Did I mention it’s FREE for the mental health professional (if you go with the base plan. You can upgrade for $29 per month to add a benefits calculator. Basically, this will allow clients to instantly calculate their out-of-network benefits to see what they could receive back from the insurance company).
Please note: I have never used this personally. Just came across it and wanted to share as a possible resource. This one really seems to have potential in how it’s set up though. If you’ve ever used it, send me an email to let me know what your think.
Recommendations? Interesting topics you would like to know more about? All you have to do is REPLY to this email with your suggestions on how I can make Counselor Weekly even better!
