Best Newsletter for Counselors on the Planet
Hello, and welcome to Counselor Weekly!
Thanks again for being part of the community!
Want to be a really cool person by referring your friends/colleagues a way to gain access to my newsletter!? Here's a link you can forward that will send them to my sign up page to begin receiving Counselor Weekly every Wednesday. I appreciate your support!
Until I have an official sponsor, looks like I'm the sponsor!
It’s almost ready to go live!
I'm launching a new site in the next couple weeks and you can sign up to be notified when it's ready to go! Just click HERE, or the photo above and it will take you right to the site. If you are an LPC Supervisor in Texas (sorry, starting in Texas only and will look at options for other states down the road), or a potential Supervisee looking for a Supervisor, this is the place for you! It's a directory for LPC Supervisors to market their services by listing their information so that potential Supervisees can connect with them and hopefully find a perfect match! If you have any questions, click REPLY to this email and I can answer any questions you have. Thanks again for allowing me this personal promotion! 🙏
So let's get to it!
Today is 6/21/23 and it's National Smoothie Day! I don’t know about you, but this is one of the only ways you can get me to consume kale!

And now some interesting articles:
If you’re in private practice, a few more ideas on getting referrals never hurts. I think a huge referral opportunity is done by connecting with other therapists in your community. We all have different specialties and therapeutic styles, so you can build a lot of excellent referrals (within your niche) just by meeting other therapists in your area.
Following up from last week’s newsletter on ChatGPT, here’s a very thorough article on AI and mental health. It addresses a lot of the legal/ethical concerns we are currently facing. Rest easy, AI isn’t coming for our jobs (at least anytime in the near future).
If you’re in private practice, you will have clients not return. Just a fact of the business we’re in. But, there are some things you can do to retain clients. Hint: it’s all about connection.
Mental Health Startups You Might Consider Working With (especially if you enjoy working remotely)
There’s a growing number of companies that are offering mental health professionals job opportunities remotely. Here’s a list of some of the most popular companies:
There are so many more startups in the mental health field! I’ll occasionally revisit this topic and provide more. It’s exciting that we are being introduced to so many new opportunities!
