Using a Billing Specialist

If you accept insurance (and don’t utilize a company like Headway that manages all the insurance stuff for you), I would highly recommend working with a billing specialist. Personally, I pay 4% of all revenue that comes from insurance (no fee for self-pay clients) to my billing team and it’s absolutely worth it! Keep in mind, this is only the insurance payments. Here’s all the things they can manage for you:

• Billing Insurance (obviously)

• Correcting and resubmitting unpaid claims

• Contacting insurance companies on your behalf

• Updating your information with insurance companies (typically required multiple times throughout the year)

• Support with EHR and claims

• And, my billing specialist even refers clients! They paid for their entire monthly fee by simply referring one client to me.

• And much more!

If you’re a solo, or small practice, you can outsource this work for a fair rate. If possible, find a billing specialist that is local so you can meet in-person as needed.
