FinCEN is Real!

If you own a private practice, you NEED to complete your mandatory 2024 Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report by December 31, 2024.

This is a federal requirement for all of the following business entities:

The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) requires certain entities to file a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). These entities include:

• Corporations

• Limited liability companies (LLCs)

• Other entities that are created or registered to do business in the U.S. by filing a document with a secretary of state 

Entities that are not required to file a BOI report include those that: Qualify for an exemption and Are not a domestic or foreign reporting company. 

Some examples of entities that are exempt from filing a BOI report include: 

• Publicly traded companies 

• Tax-exempt not-for-profits 

• Certain large operating companies 

• Certain types of inactive entities that were in existence on or before January 1, 2020 

It’s actually a simple process and only takes about 15 minutes. Go here to file electronically:

Failure to comply can lead to federal penalties up to $500 per day! Don’t blow this off! You really need to complete this if your business is required to do so (which is all LLCs and PLLCs).
