Talk Like a Real Person When Marketing Your Practice
Avoid nonsense like:
“Unlock your inner zen garden and cultivate a lush landscape of emotional equilibrium through our bespoke cognitive pruning techniques. Our seasoned mind-gardeners will help you weed out those pesky thought-weeds and plant the seeds of serenity in the fertile soil of your psyche. Together, we’ll water your withering self-esteem and watch it blossom into a majestic redwood of self-actualization. Don’t let your mental ecosystem become an overgrown jungle of neuroses – schedule your emotional landscaping session today!”
Be genuine, and write your marketing material on your website as you would normally talk to people.
Avoid jargon and fancy words. You’re probably not impressing a potential client. You’re more likely confusing, or insulting them.
Write content like you would talk in session. Be genuine so clients get an idea of your personality and style when visiting your website, or Psychology Today page.
Create a sense of humility. Coming off pompous and/or arrogant will not attract clients, or at least the right clients.
